Celebrations

Think about different events, holidays, and occasions that you celebrate with your family. For this blog post, I would like you to write about a special celebration you share with your family.

Please describe what you do, where you go, what you eat, and anything else you'd like us to know. You might want to tell us about any special tradition, or how your family started a new tradition. I encourage you to talk to your parents or grandparents about the celebration to see how your family has kept the traditions.

To help you get started, think about birthdays, holidays, important events, or other times you have celebrated with your family. Choose one and brainstorm details that tell about the celebration.

Write your post as an informational paragraph, including a main idea, supporting details, and a strong conclusion. Be sure to include your first name or initials.

Please post your reply by Friday, Dec. 9

We celebrate two holidays. One holiday our family celebrates is Christmas, which is celebrated on December 25th. On the night of Christmas Eve, we(my sister ,a couple of friends, sometimes cousins, and I ) put on a Christmas concert. We sing Christmas carols like Sleigh Ride and White Christmas. Another holiday we celebrate is Diwali. It is celebrated in October. We make a pattern out of clay outside. We only celebrate two holidays. Rajath

My family celebrates Christmas the Venezuelan way. My mom, dad, grandpa, grandma and many other of my family members are Venezuelan and were born in Venezuela. So I´ve been used to eating and doing stuff Velezuelans do. On Christmas, we eat special stuff called hallacas. We also listen to Venezuelan music like aguinaldos and gaitas. We play the secret pal because my family is so big. It´s this thing where you have a present for one person, and the person doesn´t know who the present is from, and you say things about the person, and people try to guess who your person is. Like last year I had one of my younger cousins, and I said his age, his hair color, skin color, and many other things after finally, people guest who it was and I gave the present to my cousin. But when I am saying details about the person I always remember NOT to say the person´s name. My family has an AWESOME family tradition!! Ana

Our Family Tradition is ever other year we go to my papa’s lake houses for Christmas. All of the kids sleep in the log cabin house on the floor and one set of parents sleep in the log cabin with us. The other adults sleep in the other two houses. My cousins and I play in the dirt and catch bugs, we go fishing, ride on my 4-wheeler and also drive papa’s gator utility vehicle. On Christmas morning we all wake up and meet at the log cabin house where everybody opens their prizes. Last time I got to keep Santa’s bag for Christmas sense he let his bag with the rest of my prizes where in it. We all come together and have a big homemade breakfast at one of the houses. Then we play with our new toys and later have a big Christmas dinner together which is southern food.BS

Our family created a new holiday tradition called the Christmas Eve Pizza Toss. We celebrate by inviting our friends and family to our house on Christmas Eve and play games, make garlic knots and obviously pizza. We spend all day making pizza dough and getting the toppingd ready. My favorite is pepperoni because it's very spicy. After we all get home from church, we light up the tree and turn on Christmas carols. When everbody gets here it is time to toss the dough. One time I punched through the dough and it landed on my face. It is so much fun I hope it will become a national tradition.KR

I chose Christmas as my special celebration because Christmas is my second favorite holiday. I celebrate this holiday because when the wise men followed the shiny star to find the baby Jesus. I go to the advent festival every year to start to celebrate Christmas. We decorate a lot of things in our house, our front yard, and our Christmas tree. We also have an elf named Hotshot. When I think about Christmas, sometimes I forget that we are celebrating it because of the baby Jesus' birthday and I think that it is just getting presents. Christmas is also a time of the year when relatives come to visit and best of all bring presents. I can't wait until Christmas comes on the twenty fifth!!! ARH

Celebrations
My favorite celebration is Christmas because you get so many presents and other stuff like gift cards. Last year two of my favorite presents were iPod touch, and a Georgia Bulldog Puzzle. My favorite tradition is putting the angel and ornaments on the Christmas tree. Sometimes I like to see the presents under the tree. Christmas is the best holiday in the world!
