I chose the elephant seal bull as my wild animal species because I wanted to learn more about them. The reasons they are called elephant seals are because they have long noses like an elephant. Elephant Seals are fin-footed mammals that are larger than a walrus. They live along the Pacific Coast and breed on sub-Antarctic islands. Elephant Seals have flabby snouts about 15 to 18 inches long. The male seal can get about 18 feet long and can weight about 5,000 pounds. The female seal can grow up to be 10 feet long and the females weigh less than the male seal.
During the breeding season the largest seal stakes out his territories and try to attract and hold as many females as possible. The Male seal do not eat during breeding, but females without pups feed on squid, fish, crabs, and other organisms.

Frigatebirds are interesting and unique sea birds. They have red inflatable pouches to attract a mate. They are sometimes called pirate birds because they steal and eat other birds’ eggs. They have a huge wingspan and can stay airborne for more than a week!

I chose the Marine Iguana as my wild animal because I wanted to learn more about them. The Marine Iguana is an Iguana found only on the Galapagos Islands that has ability, unique among modern lizards,to live in the sea,and making it a marine reptile. The Iguana can dive over 30ft(10m)into the water. It mainly lives in the on the rocky Galapagos shore, but can also be spotted in marshes and mangrove beaches. Marine Iguanas have been found to change their size to adapt to varying food conditions. It is speculated that the bones of the Iguanas actually shorten as a shrinkage of connective tissue could only account for a 10% length change. Ana

I always thought a wild tortoise was a cool creature. When Tortoises wake up, they become active when they are warm enough after lying in the sun. Tortoises eat flowers and leaves. Then they sleep the rest of the day. Tortoises lay their eggs in late summer. Foxes and birds may eat some of the eggs and baby tortoises. Tortoises hibernate in the winter by digging a hole and sleeping for 3 months. Tortoises can live to 90 years or more.

Coyotes

My animal is coyotes. Coyotes are fearless animals. I would not like to go into battle with one. They eat squirrels, raccoons, and fish. They like to live in forests, caves, and other dark places. They sleep in the daytime and come out at night. They can run 65 miles per hour. If you try to pet one it would probably get frustrated and chase you for many miles so don’t pet one. So if I were you I would not want one as a pet.
