Science on a Cart - Caves

Today we explored percolation and the formation of caves. We studied the different types of soils: sand, topsoil, clay, and pea gravel and how each is affected by water. We learned that some types of soil are better than others for letting water flow.

The study of caves is called Speleology Greek for. The largest cave in the united states is mammoth cave in kentucky. Mammoth cave has about 365 miles of passage ways. Tennesee has the most caves with 22. The biggest cave in the georgia is Voronya Cave. A cave is a landform.
